Hi Party Planners I have considered party plan on and off for quite some time. I am working full time, so I am assuming that this would be an appropriate way to make extra money. I have always had a retail store and am a little nervous about this style of selling. When you have a store people come to you with the intention to browse or purchase. I guess I feel "party plan" might feel pushy and I wonder if sometimes guests attend at the request of a friend, but they possibly resent being there. I know thats how I often feel!!( strange that I am considering party plan when I hate going to one myself). I have logged on tonight as I enjoy the responses that I get from others. my business for 14 years has been ladies fashion and accessories. I have stepped out of the square and have decided to join a group who sell educational books. One of the main reasons for choosing this avenue is that I am closely connected to a few preschool directors. One friend informed me that she purchased $3000 in books from the company I am joining. I will be targeting preschools, mothers groups and day care mothers. If anyone has advice or success stories I would love to hear. I am also considering having "something for the mum's" at a showing, which is a range of very unique range of affordable French jewellery. Any suggestions will be welcomed. Regards Nervous beginner

Hi Donna, No need to be nervous, party plan is awesome. I was just wondering where you live as I have seen some awesome French Jewellery in Canowindra where I live. Also I was wondering if you had a shop in Cowra, just that it is a coincidence tht you have not listed a town of residence on your profile and your posts are remarkably similar to a lady in business in Cowra. If it is you hey Cowra is a great place to live. I have been living near there for the last 25 years and think the Central West is great. If it is not you then i apologise in advance, but as I said your posts are very similar to Donna from Cowra. Have a great night Cheers Chris

Your fear of party plan being seen as 'pushy' is a valid one. Something I say to all my hostesses is, "Try to invite as many guests as you can as more people makes for a more relaxed socialble atmosphere. I don't like people to feel obliged to purchase and if there's a crowd they feel more comfortable about not buying if they are so inclined. Of course with a great atmosphere they may very well purchase anyway!" We all know the feeling of turning up as a guest at a party and feeling under pressure to buy because you're one of only 2 or 3 people! And of course higher attendance usually = higher sales = higher hostess rewards
